Sustainability strategy
Mitie’s sustainability strategy focuses on long-term success rather than short-term gains. It embraces the social, environmental and economic aspects of our operations.
Do, lead, deliver
Mitie is a profitable, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable business, but there’s still so much to do.
Our ESG strategy sets out actions and outcomes within the Mitie Group to drive positive change. This includes a commitment to reach net zero by 2025, a full 25 years ahead of the UK Government’s 2050 target. The strategy includes supporting and enabling customers to set and reach their own goals.
Through our ‘do, lead, deliver’ approach, we will continue to reach our goals. Being a proactive leader is the most effective way to combat climate change and increase social value in the communities we serve.
ESG is integrated into Mitie’s strategic approach, and this leads how we deliver services to our customers.

Our commitments
We consider the environment throughout our value chain and are taking positive steps to reverse the effects of climate change, ensuring future generations live in a more sustainable world.
Drive down energy consumption, eliminate fossil fuel emissions and adopt natural renewable sources for electricity.
Measure, report and influence emissions in the value chain to align with our Scope I and 2 commitments.
Reduce water and waste at source and adopt a circular economy approach. Take all measures to eliminate virgin products from our operations.
Biodiversity net gain must be significantly increased throughout our property portfolio.
Embed environmental sustainability into all aspects of every contract and project delivery.
The procurement process delivers a longer-term value beyond cost savings. It promotes safe and fair working conditions, human rights and labour standards.
